My experience in learning Indian culture is limited on some kind of songs and dance that is formed in a unik choreography. I know Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor :). It is yet on clothes, but I have planned to buy one which is sold in Tanah Abang. I do not buy the saris. But I ever saw the beautiful blue of dress with casual style. Really beautiful.
Then I found something new about art called r-a-n-g-o-l-i. Based on Karya Seni Dunia by Sue Nicholson, the book i’ve read before, rangoli is one of the most popular art forms among Indian woman. It is not satisfying me, so I ask Google to explain it later.
This information say rangoli is a form of sandpainting decoration that uses finely ground white powder and colors, and created commonly in front of houses during Sankranti. It can be wall art as well as floor art. Rangoli are typically painted during the tamil month of Maarkazhi (between December 15th and January 15th). Sankranti is a national festival in India. It signifies the beginning of the harvest season for the farmers of India.
What I see in the pictures here are mostly the colors are arranged like a flower with contain variety of shades and striking colours. If Rangoli is made to welcome Thirumal, why flowers are offered? In India, flower is an important symbol as we know from the many traditional wedding wear as a necklace or an ornamental flower nails and hands of the bride. Perhaps also because women are identical with the flowers means something that can represent the beauty of women. Could be Thirumal will choose a woman whose motives he thought his best. Maybe if the Rangoli looks good, maybe women who made are also beautiful the others Thirumal would marry her.
Mungkin tidak ya motif-motif bunga tersebut diganti menjadi bentuk kucing atau sesuatu yang lain?
Sure, rangoli can be made with floral designs, animals and the specific geometry..We can also find rangoli at competition in the Rose Festival.
